Privacy policy

DSS Logistics provides the DSS Driver APP to authorised employees and drivers for internal transport operations. The app is not a consumer service. Your employer or dispatch team provides access to your account.

Information processed

The app processes your work account details, such as name, email address, telephone number, profile information, licence details and authentication credentials. It generates a random installation identifier used to manage and protect your mobile session. It also processes the documents and images you choose to provide for driver onboarding and compliance, including identity or licence documents and certificates.

During work, the app processes assigned jobs and stop addresses, vehicle and trailer details, inspection answers, defect reports and photos, work status and timestamps, shift and mileage records, and related operational notes. The app stores some of this information on your device so you can work when connectivity is unavailable and synchronises it with DSS systems when the connection returns. During an active transport job, the Android app collects your precise GPS position, accuracy, capture time and, when available, speed and heading. Location is required for the active job and is shared with authorised planners; an Android foreground service can continue while the screen is off or you use another navigation app. Capture stops on final job completion, cancellation or reassignment, End Shift, sign-out, or expiry of the active-job authorisation. GPS and connectivity interruptions do not prevent you from recording your work.

Location and maps

We use active-job location to show your current position, display the recorded GPS path to completed stops, estimate the remaining road route and suggest that you may have arrived at a stop. Authorised planners can review recorded journey GPS samples for 30 days from capture, after which they expire. You still confirm arrival yourself; the app does not replace dedicated truck navigation. Mapbox receives coordinates and destination information to provide maps, address lookup and route estimates. Location is not used for advertising or tracking outside an active job. Pending device samples are limited to 100 positions and 24 hours of queue age, subject to the current job authorisation. Current-position sessions and live route estimates remain temporary.

Why we use it

We use this information to verify authorised access, manage driver and vehicle compliance, assign and complete transport work, record safety checks and defects, maintain operational records, provide support, and protect the service. The app has no advertising and does not sell personal information.

Who receives it

Authorised DSS dispatch, operations and administration staff can access information needed for their work. We use service providers for hosting, storage, email delivery and app distribution. They process information to provide those services under appropriate arrangements. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or to address safety and compliance obligations.

Security and retention

Access to the app requires a company-provided account. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections; documents are held in restricted storage, and authentication tokens are stored in protected device storage. We keep data for as long as needed for employment, transport operations, safety, legal and record-keeping requirements. Offline copies remain on the device until synchronised or removed; signing out clears credentials but may leave pending offline work so it can be sent after sign-in.

Your choices and requests

You may ask to access or correct your information through DSS dispatch. For account and data deletion, follow the account deletion instructions. Some operational records may have to be retained where required by law or legitimate safety and compliance needs.
